Anthony Majorino is a senior undergraduate student at
The Pennsylvania State University. He will graduate in
August 2012 with a minor in English and a Bachelor of English in Secondary Education. Anthony most recently student taught full-time at Pottsville Area High School in Pottsville, PA for the spring of 2012. He is a 2008 honors graduate of West Scranton High School in Scranton, PA.

As a student teacher at Pottsville Area High School, Anthony did a great deal to furthur his teaching repertoire. He designed and implemented a ninth grade poetry unit which incorporated a debate, musical guest, and various technological tools. He also helped to prepare two theater students for a state-wide competition and aided in the theater department's production of Kiss Me Kate in March. His accomplishments at the school earned him a feature article in the TideLines newspaper (link).

Anthony is an active member of both the Penn State University chapter of the Student Pennsylvania State Education Association as well as the Asylum alternative music club. As part of the Asylum, he aided in organizing and managing their annual music festival during his spring 2011 semester.

Outside of Penn State, Anthony has ample experience in tutoring and teaching at the high school and elementary level. Prior to Pottsville Area High School, he was a pre-service student teacher for six weeks with three twelfth grade classes at Curwensville Jr. Sr. High School in Curwensville, PA. He also volunteered as a tutor at the Stormbreak Youth Program, a group home for "at-risk" students, during his junior year and summer semester at Penn State. Along with this, he provided four months of individualized tutoring to a struggling third grade student during the fall of his junior year.

Previous to these experiences, he dedicated a month during his sophomore year at Penn State to help volunteer with the West Scranton High School theater department's spring production of Up the Down Staircase. He also helped to organize the first-ever Scranton Zine Fest in the summer of 2011.

Anthony's sincere passion for improving education makes him an exemplary candidate for a teaching position. He has an interest teaching English and Language Arts in grades 9-12.
